Domestic dispute results in shots fired

A Russell Springs woman is facing a charge of attempted murder following a domestic dispute Monday night, while her husband was arrested for assault but was released Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. Monday, according to a Russell Springs Police report, where officer Hayden Phillips responded to a residence at 1285 HWY 379 in Russell Springs in reference to a fight in progress with a possible gun involved.

The report says that Amy Coe and Billy Coe were separated upon arrival from law enforcement and both were bleeding from the facial area.

The report states that law enforcement received conflicting stories and obtained video from a home surveillance system.

According to Russell Springs Police, both parties ensued in a physical struggle in the passenger area of the vehicle they were in. After Billy removed Amy from the truck, the physical altercation continued off camera and Amy returned to the residence where she obtained a firearm and began shooting in the direction of Billy and his son after the threat subsided.

Amy Coe is currently lodged in the Russell County Detention Center for charges of attempted murder, wanton endangerment first degree, and assault fourth degree. Billy Coe was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center Monday night, but was released Tuesday morning.

The incident is under further investigation by Russell Springs Police.
