A multi-agency rescue operation was carried out Thursday afternoon after a worker fell nearly 20 feet while working on a barge at Wolf Creek Dam.
That was Russell County Search & Rescue Chief Chris Money.
Search & Rescue personnel, Russell County EMS and Jamestown Firemen were called to the scene at approximately 1:00 p.m.
Due to the location and severity of the fall, crews conducted a technical rescue to safely remove the injured worker from the barge.
Rescuers used the barge’s multi-ton crane to lift the patient and rescuer Jonathan Llane to the roadway, where Russell County EMS was waiting. The victim was initially treated by EMS personnel, then flown by emergency helicopter to the University of Kentucky for further treatment.
Chief Money said this type of rescue was specifically trained for just a couple of months ago.
