The Russell County Public Library is helping local students build their skills—and their confidence—through its free “Homework Help” program.
The program has been offered for the past several school years, with participation continuing to grow. Kristina Burton, who oversees the program, says students receive help from volunteers at no cost to their families.
Homework Help is available to students throughout the community and can provide assistance with any subject at any grade level. Sessions generally last between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the student’s needs and attention span.
Burton says families should plan ahead when requesting a session.
Scheduling about one week in advance gives Burton time to coordinate with an available tutor and reserve a room at the library.
Parents or guardians can schedule a session by contacting Burton directly.
The library’s Homework Help program is designed not only to keep students on track academically, but also to help them become more confident in the classroom.
