Wanted Fugitive Captured, Another Arrest Made Saturday in Adair County

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies captured a wanted fugitive Saturday and made another arrest in an unrelated incident.

According to Sheriff Gary Roy, deputies responded to a residence on Overstreet Road after receiving information on the whereabouts of 29-year-old Christopher “Critter” McClister of Columbia.

Sheriff Roy says deputies encountered McClister attempting to leave through the back door of the residence. When he spotted law enforcement, McClister reportedly went back inside and tried to hide. After receiving consent to enter the home, deputies located and arrested him without incident.

McClister was wanted on an escape warrant after allegedly walking away from a halfway house in Madison County. The arrest was made by Deputy Ricky Shirley with assistance from Deputy Joey Keith.

Also Saturday, Deputy Brandon Hitch arrested 33-year-old Samantha West of Columbia. West is charged with driving on a DUI-suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident and first-degree criminal mischief.

Both McClister and West were processed and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
