State Audit Finds No Reportable Compliance Issues in Clinton Sheriff’s Tax Account

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office has received another clean tax audit.

The report from State Auditor Allison Ball covers the office’s settlement of 2024 taxes, for the period September first, 2024, through August thirty-first, 2025.

Auditors reported no instances of noncompliance and identified no material weaknesses in financial reporting controls. The office’s tax settlement was found to fairly present taxes charged, credited and paid under Kentucky’s accounting requirements.

Sheriff Ricky Marcum credited his staff’s hard work and attention to detail, saying accurate records and proper accounting for taxpayer funds are essential to accountability and transparency.

The sheriff’s office collects property taxes for the state, county, school system and other local taxing districts. State law requires annual audits of both the sheriff’s tax account and the separate fee account used to operate the office.

Marcum also thanked Clinton County residents for their continued trust and support.
