Polston says he intends to run for third term as sheriff

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston has announced he intends to run for a third term as sheriff.

Polston made the announcement on Community Conversation on WJRS this week.

Polston was first elected sheriff in 2018 after previously serving as Police Chief with the Jamestown Police Department.

Candidates running for office in the May 2026 primary election can begin officially filing candidacy paperwork in November.
