Adair man charged with vehicular homicide in fatal Sano crash

An Adair County man is charged with vehicular homicide following a fatal collision in the Sano community late Saturday night.

31-year-old David Cecil King was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol, wanton endangerment first degree, assault first degree, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

The collision occurred in the Sano community near the Russell/Adair County line.

A 14-year-old died as the result of the collision. The Adair County School District identified the teen as Skyler Huckaby, an 8th grade student at Adair County Middle School.

WJRS News is told another Adair County student and a small child were also seriously injured in the collision.

Arrest records show King has been arrested for driving under the influence three different times dating back to 2016. He was arrested by Columbia Police in July 2020 for driving under the influence. He was also arrested in Casey County by Kentucky State Police in October 2016 and by the Casey County Sheriff’s Office in August 2015.

Full details regarding the collision are expected to be released by Kentucky State Police. We’ll provide more details as they are available.
