The RCMS girls’ 6th, 7th and 8th grade basketball teams hosted Campbellsville at the middle school on Thursday night. The 8th grade won 39-8 with Rachel Bolin leading the way with 15 points, the 7th grade won 48-12. Bolin scored 15 and Aniyah Coffey finished with 10 points and the 6th grade won 16-9, with Camdin Cooper leading the way with eight points.
The Lady Laker volleyball teams hosted district foe Metcalfe County. The varsity won 25-21, 25-22, 25-17 while the JV lost 21-18, 23-21 and the freshmen fell 22-20, 21-12. They did win one set, 21-17.
Russell County Cross Country competed Thursday in the Lincoln County Death Valley All Comers Meet. In the Elementary division Haley Pennington finished in 19th place and Jasmine Rowe finished in 21st place. At the middle school level, Madison Copley finished in 12th and Anna Andraca finished in 13th place in the women’s division while Lincoln Helm finished 7th, Nathan Bradshaw finished 8th and Austin Franklin finished 9th in the men’s division. In the high school women’s division, Kiara Cowen finished 9th and Cheyenne Robertson finished in 13th place and in the men’s division Justin Stearns finished in 2nd place, Tyler Lulek in 3rd place, Clayton Trosper in 5th place, Blake McClure in 11th place and Mason Buras in 13th place.
Tonight, the 3-0 Russell County Mighty Laker football team puts their unbeaten record on the line as they travel to Casey County for a 6:30 central time kickoff against the Rebels. Anyone student in grades 7 through 12 that is interested in signing up for the bowling team, there will be a meeting in the RCHS cafeteria on Monday, September 16th at 6 pm.
