Russell County’s unemployment rate dropped more than one percent from the same time period last year according to a new report from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Russell County’s unemployment rate in the month of March was 5 percent, compared to 6.1 percent in March 2021.
Despite the drop, Russell County had one of the highest rates in the Lake Cumberland area, only behind McCreary County at 5.2 percent.
Most of the state saw a drop in unemployment with 110 of 120 counties in Kentucky reporting decreases.
