The Russell County Community Blood Drive is set for Thursday in Jamestown, with donors helping supply blood to hospitals across Kentucky.
The Kentucky Blood Center will collect donations from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the South Kentucky RECC Community Room at 2405 North Main Street.
Longtime local blood drive chairman Tony Kerr tells WJRS NEWS the Kentucky Blood Center serves more than seventy hospitals throughout the state.
Kerr says donors can also sign up to receive notifications letting them know where their donated blood is used.
Donors must be at least seventeen years old, although sixteen-year-olds may donate with signed parental consent. Donors should be in generally good health and weigh at least one hundred ten pounds.
Everyone who donates will receive a limited-edition T-shirt while supplies last. One donor will also win a $100 gift card sponsored by Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas.
Kerr encourages donors to pre-register by visiting www.kybloodcenter.org
