The Russell County Board of Education has approved Superintendent Michael Ford’s recommendations for the district’s 2027–2028 Calendar Committee.
During Monday evening’s meeting, Ford said Russell County Schools has used a calendar committee for many years, even before Kentucky law required one. The law specifies which positions within the school district must be represented.
Ford outlined those requirements and named the individuals he recommended to serve.
Also appointed to the calendar committee from the “community” was Danielle Wilson, Director of Tourism and Stacey Popplewell, president of the Russell County Chamber of Commerce.
The committee will review and develop school calendar options, then make recommendations for the 2027–2028 school year to the school board which normally adopts the proposed calendar during its December meeting
