School District’s Tax Rates Will Be Set During Called Meeting of School Board Friday Morning

The Russell County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting Friday morning (September 11, 2026) to take final action on the school district’s tax rates for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.

The meeting is necessary for the board to approve the rates in time for the county to meet its printing company’s deadline for preparing and mailing property tax bills.

The proposed General Fund rates are 49.8 cents per $100 of assessed real property and 51.1 cents on personal property. The real property rate is one-tenth of a cent lower than last year, while the personal property rate is unchanged.

Rates on motor vehicles and watercraft would remain at 52.2 cents, with the utility tax unchanged at 3%

The board will also recognize Russell Springs Elementary educator Jalena Bryant.

Friday’s meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. in the conference room at the SEED Academy on French Valley Road in Russell Springs.
