David Keith McDonald, 67, of Russell Springs

David Keith McDonald, of Russell Springs, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, at Russell County Hospital.  He was 67 years of age.

Born November 21, 1958, at Dr. Charles Peck’s office in Russell Springs, he was a son of the late Avery and Ora Weir McDonald. David was a former member of the Army National Guard. He worked for many years in construction, remodeling homes, and was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom, Inc. He also enjoyed working on his farm. At the time of his passing, his “joy job” was driving a school bus for the Russell County Board of Education and he had already spoken of looking forward to the upcoming start of the school year. David was a current attendee of 3Trees Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Lesa Blair McDonald; daughter, Crystal (and Billy) Hatter, of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, William Hatter, Blair Hatter, Shayla Chester, and Kayleigh Streeval; two grandchildren by choice; Sarah Grider and Aubree Richardson; two brothers, Billy (and Linda) McDonald, of Russell Springs, Dennis (and Gwen) McDonald, of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Roxie McDonald and Fay Thomas, both of Windsor, Sandra Kiesier, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, and Ann Chrusciel, of Georgetown; a sister-in-law, Anna Lois McDonald, of Russell Springs; a host of nieces and nephews; a special friend and cousin, Thomas Sayers; and special friend, Steve Rooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James McDonald; and two sisters, Ruby Morris and Imogene Callaghan.

Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, August 10, 2026, at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Ryan Trammell officiating.

Visitation will begin after 10:30 AM and continue until time of services.

Cremation rites will be honored according to his family’s wishes.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to God’s Food Pantry or the Russell County 4-H Program. These can be left at the funeral home.
