Two people were arrested on drug trafficking charges following the execution of a search warrant Sunday night.
Sheriff Derek Polston says the Russell County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by officers with the Jamestown and Russell Springs Police Departments executed a search warrant at a residence on Snow Road in Russell Springs around 10:00 p.m. resulting in the arrests of 46-year-old Christopher Fortenberry of Russell Springs and 37-year-old Melandai Lyn Smith of Columbia.
Fortenberry is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana under eight ounces, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Smith is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a legend drug.
Both Fortenberry and Smith were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. Deputy Stone Bolin is leading the investigation and will present evidence in the case to a Russell County Grand Jury, according to Sheriff Polston. (photo provided by Russell County Sheriff’s Department)
