The Russell County Airport Board says it has a long-term vision focused on continued growth while making sure the airport remains a valuable resource for the entire community.
In the third and final installment of our WJRS NEWS special report, Airport Board Chairman John Stivers says the board’s long-range goals include continuing to improve airport facilities, expanding services when possible, and ensuring the airport is well-positioned to support economic development and aviation needs well into the future.
Stivers says none of the airport’s progress would have been possible without significant support from state and federal aviation programs. He says grant funding has allowed the airport to complete major improvement projects over the years while reducing the financial burden on local taxpayers.
Stivers says the airport board remains committed to seeking additional grant opportunities as they become available, allowing the airport to continue improving infrastructure, supporting economic development and providing a modern aviation facility for Russell County.
