School district placing extra money in transportation budget for next year with rise in fuel costs

Russell County Schools is placing extra money into its transportation budget for next year with the rise in fuel costs over the last several months.

Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford said the district is increasing its transportation budget by roughly $325,000.

Russell County school buses run about 50 routes per day during the school year, and in total, travel about 2,600 miles per day.
