A McCreary County man has been indicted on a manslaughter charge in the death of another McCreary County man earlier this year.
Billy Proffitt Jr. was indicted by a McCreary County grand jury on a charge of manslaughter – first degree in the death of 60-year-old Gene Miller Cooper in April.
Cooper was found unresponsive on the porch of a residence in McCreary County on April 7. Home security footage released to LEX18 of that night shows Cooper walking up to the door and knocking. A man, identified as Proffitt, opens the door in the video and immediately grabs Cooper and knocks him to the ground.
On Tuesday, Kentucky State Police requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshalls Service and Proffitt was located and arrested in North Carolina. He is set to be extradited back to Kentucky.
