The Kentucky High School Athletic Association granted a request from Russell County to move from District 6 to District 2 in the upcoming football alignment.
Beginning in 2027, Russell County will move into a six-team district that includes Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, Logan County, Ohio County, and Warren East.
Previously, Russell County would have been in a district with Corbin, Harlan County, Wayne County, and Whitley County.
