The Laker Baseball team clinched a spot in the 4th Region Tournament for the 9th consecutive season with a 6-2 win over Metcalfe County last night.
The Lakers were led by pitcher Blaine Melton, who allowed just 2 hits and 1 run over 5 2/3 innings of work, while striking out 10 batters.
At the plate, Walker Stephens and Luke Walters each drove in 2 runs. Jace Scaggs finished with a team-high 3 hits. Raylan McAninch and Ben Kemp each finished with 2 hits.
The Lakers will take on the Monroe County Falcons in the 16th District Championship at 6:00 this evening. The Falcons pulled an upset in the first game last night, knocking off the 1-seed Clinton County by a score of 4-2.
