For the 9th year in a row, the Laker Baseball team claimed the 16th District championship.
The Lakers defeated Monroe County 8-6 last night in the district championship game.
The Lakers were led at the plate by Jace Scaggs, who hit a two-run home run in the second inning, his first of the season. Scaggs finished the night with 2 hits and 4 runs batted in. Ben Kemp and Tanner Stringer each finished the night with 2 hits and an RBI.
Luke Walters earned the win pitching, entering in relief, pitching 3 2/3 innings and giving up just 1 run on 3 hits.
The Lakers now wait to learn their draw for the 4th Region Tournament, which gets underway Monday. The Lakers will face off against Allen County-Scottsville, Bowling Green, or Logan County, who all finished as their respective district runner-up.
