Russell Springs to purchase new fire truck through FEMA grant

The City of Russell Springs announced plans to purchase a new fire truck for the city’s fire department at last week’s council meeting, thanks to a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, known as FEMA.

The grant totals around $475,000, which includes a little over $22,000 from the city.

Russell Springs Fire Chief Bobby Johnson said the new tanker truck will enhance public safety in Russell Springs, as well as neighboring areas when the fire department assists other nearby departments.

Mayor Eddie Thomas said he was happy to see the city and the fire department receive this grant.
