A Russell Springs man was indicted on a rape charge by a Russell County grand jury this week.
48-year-old David W. George of Russell Springs was indicted on a charge of rape first degree.
According to the indictment, the victim was 5 years old at the time.
The indictment states the incident took place in May.

Anthony P. Schwaniger, age 40 of Waddy, charged with burglary second degree and alcohol intoxication.
Misty Walker, age 47 of Jamestown, charged with bail jumping first degree.
Nolina Camp, age 40 of Russell Springs, charged with bail jumping first degree.
Patrick A. Taylor, age 42 of Alpha, charged with 3 counts of wanton endangerment first degree, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and operating on a suspended license.
Christopher James Reed, age 33 of Liberty, charged with theft by deception $10,000 or more and theft by unlawful taking $10,000 or more.
Damon Ballenger, age 37 of Russell Springs, charged with burglary third degree, possession of a controlled substance third degree, possession of a controlled substance not in the proper container, criminal mischief second degree, possession of burglary tools and persistent felony offender.
Christopher W. Taylor, age 30 of Berea, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bradley Worley, age 46 of Russell Springs, charged with two counts of burglary third degree and persistent felony offender.
Preston Cappiello, age 25 of Columbia, charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, terroristic threatening third degree, and persistent felony offender.
David W. Campbell, age 62 of Russell Springs, charged with fleeing or evading police second degree, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and multiple other traffic violations.
Laura Cooper, age 44 of Richmond, charged with assaulting EMS personnel, assaulting a peace officer, disorderly conduct second degree, and public intoxication.
Kennith Fortune, age 54 of Russell Springs, charged with wanton endangerment first degree.
Christopher L. Harper, age 38 of Science Hill, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence.
Anthony Burton, age 42, and Joshua Bowling, age 43, both of Russell Springs, charged with theft by unlawful taking $1,000 or more. Burton was also charged with persistent felony offender.
Howard Ryals, age 55 of Columbia, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations.
Mistie Collins, age 47 of Russell Springs, charged with fleeing or evading police first degree, wanton endangerment first degree, criminal mischief first degree, disorderly conduct second degree, terroristic threatening third degree, reckless driving, and persistent felony offender.
