Registrations for special-purpose vehicles at clerk’s office has been slow; golf carts not eligible

Registration for special-purpose vehicles after the fiscal court voted to allow them on county roadways has been a little slow.

Russell County Clerk Patti Glover said there have been about 10 county residents come in to register their special-purpose vehicles.

In order to meet requirements to be operated on county roadways, special-purpose vehicles like side-by-sides must be licensed by the clerk’s office, insured, and inspected by the sheriff’s office.

Glover also made clear that golf carts do not fall into this category.

Anyone with questions about licensing a special-purpose vehicle can visit the clerk’s office or call them at 270-343-2125.
