Jennifer Knifley is the opioid liaison hired through the Russell County Fiscal Court.
The position was created through use of opioid settlement funds allotted to local government entities across the state.
Knifley was a guest on Community Conversation on WJRS this week and discussed what her role is in helping members of the community struggling with drug addiction.
Knifley expanded on the role mental health often plays in substance abuse.
Knifley is also involved with Casey’s Law, which allows for someone to be court-ordered into treatment.
