A Somerset man who was indicted on rape and sodomy charges by a Russell County grand jury in December has now been indicted on more than 40 sex crimes in Pulaski County.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said 32-year-old Jesus Alberto Chavez was indicted on 45 counts last week. The charges include rape and sodomy third degree, human trafficking, use of a minor under 16 in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a minor under the age of 16, and possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
Chavez was initially arrested last October on rape and sodomy charges. The investigation continued and eventually led to indictments in Pulaski and Russell counties in December. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation following the December indictments, discovering evidence that led to the 45-count indictment last week.
Chavez remains lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
