The Russell County Laker Band could have a new spot to practice.
The band is well-known for practicing in front of Russell County Middle School in the summer and fall. However, discussions have been ongoing between Superintendent Michael Ford and Band Director Curtis Ervin about turning the old tennis courts into a new practice area for the band.
Ervin proposed the idea of paving the old courts, painting the surface green to make it cooler, and painting lines to mimic a football field.
The discussion during the board meeting was just informational. No action was taken on the topic. Ford told board members he will plan on presenting the board with some options in the near future on moving forward with the idea.
