Kentucky State Police have charged two Edmonton residents following an animal cruelty investigation involving more than 200 dogs in Metcalfe County.
State Police say 34-year-old Michael York and 36-year-old Natasha York kept the dogs on their property. Investigators reported that many had not received required rabies vaccinations, while several suffered from dehydration, parasites, malnutrition and other health problems. One dog reportedly had a broken leg.
Trooper Trent Tooley conducted the investigation with assistance from Guardians of Rescue, a nonprofit animal-welfare organization.
Both Yorks were charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and violating state requirements that dogs be vaccinated against rabies.
The investigation remains ongoing.
