McGowan breaks fast-pitch single-season home run record, Lady Lakers go 1-2 over weekend

Russell County junior Rylen McGowan broke the school fast-pitch softball record for home runs in a season by hitting her 9th home run over the weekend.

Home run #9 came in Russell County’s victory over Cookeville, Tennessee on Saturday by a score of 10-4.

McGowan finished with 2 hits on the day, driving in 2 runs. Addy Abrell led the team with 3 hits in the game along with a run batted in.

Addison Hart struck out 6 batters in 5 innings of work, giving up 4 runs (only 1 earned) on 3 hits.

The Lady Lakers fell to Clay County, Tennessee in the first game on Saturday by a score of 7-0. Camdin Cooper, Mallie McQueary, and Addison Hart each finished with a hit for the Lady Lakers.

The Lady Lakers dropped a close one to Rockcastle County Friday night by a score of 12-10.

Mallie McQueary, Jaylee Roy, and Brylie Hardwick all hit home runs in that game.

Camdin Cooper finished with a team-high 3 hits. Nevaeh Duncan and Addison Hart each finished with 2 hits.
