A Russell County High School student has been selected for the prestigious Gatton Academy at Western Kentucky University.
RCHS Sophomore Samantha Brown was selected for the program.
Applicants are assessed on several factors, including ACT/SAT scores, grades, awards, and extracurriculars. Applications are also considered based on essays, recommendations, and interviews with WKU faculty, community leaders, and Gatton Academy alumni.
The Gatton Academy is Kentucky’s first state-supported, two-year residential program for high school students with interests in advanced science and math careers. It is one of only 15 such programs in the nation.
