Monticello woman arrested after driving into home, crashing into children’s playroom

A Monticello woman was arrested Wednesday night after she reportedly drove into a home and crashed into the wall of a children’s playroom in the home.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Emily F. Coomer of Monticello on five counts of wanton endangerment-1st degree, leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief-1st degree.

The sheriff’s office said Coomer drove her vehicle through a garage door and struck a car in the garage of the home, pushing that car into the children’s playroom of the home. Police say five people were home at the time of the incident, including three children.

Police say Coomer tried to flee the scene after crashing into the home, but they located the vehicle and arrested Coomer following a traffic stop.

Coomer was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. No injuries were reported from the incident.
