The Russell County Laker Baseball team dropped last night’s matchup against Marion County, falling to the Knights by a score of 6-2.
The Lakers fell behind early, as the Knights scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning and added another in the 3rd to jump out to a 6-0 lead.
The Lakers scored a pair of runs in the 7th inning, but were not able to complete the comeback.
Mayes Gosser led Russell County with a pair of hits, driving in both runs for Russell County. Carter Stapp and Alden Brumley each finished with a pair of hits as well.
The Lakers will look to get back in the win column tonight as they go on the road for a district matchup with Monroe County. That game is scheduled to get underway at 5:30 this evening.
