Lady Laker Softball drops close one at South Laurel ; hosts Wayne County tonight

The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team dropped a close one at South Laurel Friday night, falling by a score of 10-7.

The Lady Lakers jumped out to an early 3-1 advantage after two innings, and after scoring 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning, the Lady Lakers led 7-3.

However, South Laurel scored 6 runs in the bottom half of the 4th and added another in the 6th to secure the victory.

Jaylee Roy hit a three-run home run for Russell County, her first of the season, and Audrie Roy led Russell County with a pair of hits.

Brylie Hardwick, Mallie McQueary, and Camdin Cooper each drove in a run for Russell County.

The Lady Lakers will look to get back in the win column tonight as they host the Wayne County Lady Cardinals.

That matchup is set to get underway at 5 p.m.
