It was truly a historic occasion during last night’s meeting of the Russell County Board of Education.
During the board meeting, board chair Dick Kaszuk was joined by Charlene Harris of Russell Springs First National Bank to announce the bank’s gift of $400,000 to the school district and the naming of the new athletic facilities at the high school as the “First National Bank Athletic Complex.”
Harris talked with WJRS News after the presentation about the big announcement.
Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford said the school district is very appreciative of First National Bank of Russell Springs for the gift, and their support of the local school district for many years.
The naming rights are only for the athletic complex itself. The football field will remain Finley Field, and the baseball field is named David Rexroat Field in honor of the longtime Laker Baseball coach.
