For the past couple weeks, Russell County and much of the surrounding area has been in a moderate drought, but this week has brought some rain to the area.
Russell County Agriculture Extension Agent Jonathan Oakes told WJRS News rainfall is still lower than normal, but rains this week have been crucial for local farmers.
Oakes also spoke about the slightly unusual weather season we’ve experienced this year.
