NWS confirms tornado touched down in Russell County Sunday night

The National Weather Service in Louisville confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Russell County Sunday night.

According to the weather service, the tornado reached speeds of around 110 mph in the Jamestown area.

Sunday night’s storms knocked out power to thousands of customers in Russell County.

Crews are continuing to work on power outages, with about 1,000 remaining without power in Russell County.
