Melvin Riddle, age 62, of Russell Springs

Melvin Riddle, of Russell Springs, passed away surrounded by family and friends, Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Jean Waddle Care Center, in Somerset.  He was 62 years of age.

Born August 1, 1960, in Burkesville, he was a son of the late John L. and Irene Hovis Riddle.  Melvin had a long career in the building and construction industry and was co-owner of Lake Cumberland Glass.  He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Melvin was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Lakewood Country Club. As a big fan of UK Basketball, if the Cats were playing, he would be watching them on television. Above all else, Melvin’s favorite pastime was being “Poppie” to his five grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Riddle, of Russell Springs; two daughters, Erin (and Derek) Grider, of Jamestown, and Emily Hamilton, of Mt. Sterling; a brother, Johnny Keith (and Patricia) Riddle, of Albany; five grandchildren, Grifffin McClain, Caden Grider, Carter Grider, Blake Grider, and Bryce Grider; his mother-in-law, Janice Popplewell, of Russell Springs; his sister-in-law, Amy (and Kenny) Ballinger, of Waddy; two nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; and a host of cousins and many special friends.  He is also survived by special family members, Vince Wilson and Ricky and Kelly Roy, of Russell Springs, who were always there to lend a hand in a time of need.

Funeral services are 3:00 PM CST Sunday, July 1, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Bill Mullins officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM, until time of services, at the funeral home.

Vince Wilson, Ricky Roy, Joe Adkins, Kennley Ballinger, Gary McFarland, and Randy Baird will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Kevin’s Kids, at RSES, 1554 N. Hwy 127, Russell Springs, Ky 42642, “Attention: Family Resource Center” or Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
