On the heels of an announcement that Kentucky will receive around $1.1 billion in federal funds for high-speed internet, Duo Broadband CEO Tom Preston wold WJRS News the organization is fortunate to receive funds and looking forward to new opportunities the funding creates.
“In our case, we have been fortunate in applying for and winning many state and federal grants for fiber broadband over the last 5 years,” Preston said. “We have monies secured to complete our entire Co-op network with fiber to the home. That being said, we will look for opportunities that this new federal program creates for us. ”
Two weeks ago, we reported that Duo Broadband is set to receive a $25 million federal grant aimed at expanding broadband access.
Those funds came through the U.S. Department of Agriculture ReConnect Program.
