Ernest Brumley, age 87, of Russell Springs

Ernest Brumley, of Russell Springs, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington.  He was 87 years of age.

Born January 17, 1935, in Russell County, he was a son of the late Herbert “Hub” and Pearl Conner Brumley. Ernest was a former self-employed auto mechanic who established Brumley’s Towing, the first towing service in Russell County. He was the owner and operator of the business for sixty-four years.  Ernest also had his pilot license and enjoyed flying airplanes.  He was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats Basketball and NASCAR Racing.  He was a member of Jamestown Christian Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Helen Grider Brumley, of Russell Springs; two sons, Steven Karl Brumley (and Jan), of Russell Springs, and Tyler Brent Brumley, of Jamestown; a daughter, Susan Brumley-Melton (and Jerry), of Russell Springs; one brother, Danny Brumley (and Carol), of Jamestown; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Brumley of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Jordan Brumley, Jade Brumley, Hannah Brumley, and Anaston Brumley; and one great-grandchild, Owen Reece Brumley.

In addition to his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by a brother, David Brumley.

Funeral services are 12:00 P.M. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Bill Welker and Bro. Jason “Bucky” Walters officiating. Cremation rites will be honored following the service.

Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until time of services, Monday, at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Brown, Van Grider, Kev Grider, Roy Wayne Beck, Phillip Gaskins, Ronnie Jackson, George Ralph Garr, Danny Coffey, Scott Redmon and Jeff Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Jamestown Christian Church, P.O. Box 97, Jamestown, KY 42629.
