Betty Ann Ashbrook, age 75, of Russell Springs

Betty Ann Ashbrook, of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at T.J. Samson Hospital, in Glasgow.  She was 75 years of age.

Betty was born at home, in Russell County, on November 23, 1946, daughter of the late Lewis and Dorothy Richards Robertson.  She became a widow at a young age and became mother and father to seven children.  Betty worked away from home doing factory work, grocery work and housekeeping for people, providing for her family all while running a tight ship at home.  She was a nurturing, loving mother.  As her children grew up and were married, Betty considered her sons and daughters-in-law as her own.

She enjoyed her flowers, working puzzles, and watching game shows and crime mysteries.  She loved her little dog, “Sophie”, her best friend and companion for 10 years.

Betty is survived by her sons, Ricky (and Sandy) George, of Columbia, Randy (and Missy) George, of Russell Springs, Gary (and Anne) George, of Edmonton, Greg (and Tara) George, of Russell Springs and Timmy (and Renae) George, also of Russell Springs; her daughter, Becky (and Kenny) Dixon, of Greensburg; her brother, Charles “George” Robertson, of Louisville; her sister, Lorene “Tootsie” Barnett, of Russell Springs; her grandchildren, Chad Dixon, Marissa Scott, Ashley George, Amanda Clements, Jeremy George, Scott George, Kobe George, Holley George, Sarah George, Britany Ford, Trevor Foster, Courtney George, Breanna George, Owen George, Blake Williams, Bryson George, Bethany Earl, Aaron Ashbrook and Michelle Ashbrook; her twenty-seven great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Tim Roy; and her step-daughter, Rita Campbell.

Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Phillip George; her daughter, Tammie Jane George Roy; her second husband, Estus “Eckie” Ashbrook; her brother, Phillip Robertson; her sister, Pearl Calhoun; and her granddaughter, Recie Ashbrook.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Leonard Pierce and Weston Dixon officiating.  Interment will follow in White’s Chapel Cemetery.  Betty’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, until time for services.
