Late errors doom Lakers in upset loss to Cumberland County

A pair of late errors doomed the Lakers Tuesday as Russell County dropped its first district baseball game in five years to the Cumberland County Panthers by a score of 3-2.

The Lakers had two errors in the top of the seventh inning as the Panthers scored the deciding run to give them their first win over Russell County since 2017.

The Lakers struggled to get much going at the plate, as the Lakers finished with just four hits on the day. Aidan Antle, Trace Stringer, Nick Aaron, and Camden Carpenter each finished with a hit for the Lakers.

Antle and Bryce Cowell each drove in a run for the Lakers.

The Lakers, now 11-3 on the season, will look to get back on track in a district matchup at Clinton County on Thursday.
