Russell County is set to receive nearly $32 million in funding for road and infrastructure projects, according to the Legislative Research Commission in Frankfort.
As part of the 2022 through 2024 biennial highway construction plan, $30 million will go toward relocating US 127 from east of the KY 1730 and Manntown Rd. intersection, and extending northerly to the north bank of the Cumberland River, while nearly $1.9 million has been allocated improve congestion and safety along US 127 at KY 1381, better known as Voils Rd., and SK Lane in Russell Springs.
The funding is part of House Bill 242, which provides more than $2.9 billion for the maintenance and construction of state roads over the next two years. The measure also includes $370 million for the rehabilitation and construction of bridges and sets aside $250 million to match federal dollars for mega projects in Northern, Eastern, and Western Kentucky.
