Laker Sports Report for Wednesday, September 16th

***  The Lady Laker Volleyball team was home last night for matches with Wayne County.   In the JV game, Russell County won 2-1.  In the Varsity match, Wayne County won 2-0.   Both JV and varsity will be back in action this Thursday when they travel to Pulaski County.

***The Russell County Middle School football team opened their season Tuesday night at Ron Finley field against Casey County.   The Laker 7th grade team won 22 to 0.  The Laker 8th grade team won 40 to 6.

***The Laker golf team was at The Pines in Columbia for a match with Adair County.   The Laker varsity won by 12 strokes over Adair, 174 to 186.   Dru Stapp and Nick Blakey both shot a 42 for the Lakers.   In the JV match, Russell County won by three strokes, 218 to 221.   Sixth grader Tyson Stille led the JV team with a 48.

***The Russell County Girls Soccer team was on the road at McCreary Central.   The game ended in a 1-1 tie.   The girls soccer team has several games over the next couple of weeks, but their next home game at Russell County High School will be Monday, September 28th when they play Green County.

***The Russell County Boys Soccer team fell to Campbellsville 3-0. The Lakers will travel to Casey County on Thursday before returning home for a matchup with Wayne County on Monday, Sept. 21.
