In Laker Sports action from Monday:
The Russell County Lady Laker soccer lost at home to Monroe County, 1-0. The girls soccer team will be on the road on Tuesday, traveling to Whitley City to take on McCreary County.
The Lady Laker freshmen volleyball team traveled to Somerset to play Pulaski County in a doubleheader. The Laker freshmen won both matches, defeating Pulaski county 21-15 and 21-16 in first game, and 21-11 and 21-15 in the second game.
The middle school girls basketball team was on the road at Metcalfe County. In the 8th grade game, the Lakers lost their first game of the season, losing to Metcalfe county 34 to 27. Karley Luttrell had 13 points for the Lakers. In the 7th grade game, Russell county won, defeating Metcalfe county 7th graders, 31 to 24. McKenna Ccamaque had 10 points. Both teams will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to Hart county.
Tonight, the Lady Laker volleyball team will host Wayne County at Laker gym. The JV game will start around 4:30, varsity game to follow. It is also Senior Recognition Night for the Lady Lakers, as they will recognize Seniors Ashton Baird, Evan Hoover, Kylee Roy, and Abbie Loy.
Also tonight, the middle school football team will open its season, as they will take on Casey county at Ron Finley Field, with kickoff set for 6 o’clock.
