Laker Sports Report for Monday, September 14th

Last week kicked off an exciting week for Laker sports as we saw girls volleyball, middle school girls basketball, and high school football all get underway.   This week, more exciting action for Russell County student athletes.

On Saturday, the Lady Laker volleyball team defeated Glasgow at Laker gym, 25 to 11, and 25 to 18.   The varsity record is 3-1.   The JV volleyball team remained unbeaten, defeating Glasgow, 21 to 8 and 21 to 12, to run their record to 4 and 0.   The JV and freshmen teams will be in action Monday afternoon when they travel to Pulaski county, with first game at 4:30.

The 8th girls basketball team will take a 2 and 0 record on the road Monday night when they travel to Metcalfe County.   On Saturday, the Laker 6th grade team was in action at Laker gym for a doubleheader against Campbellsville.   In the first game, Russell County sixth graders won, 33 to 4.   McKenna Ccamaque had 11 points.   In the second game, the Lakers also won,  28 to 4, as Camdin Cooper had 11 points.

Tuesday night, the middle school football team will open their season, at Ron Finley Field, as they host Casey County.
