The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Board of Controllers held a meeting this morning and one of the topics was the beginning of high school basketball in Kentucky.
The board voted to approve a plan that would push back the start of practices 11 days, from Oct. 15 to Oct. 26. However, the first games are still slated to begin on Nov. 23.
The KHSAA boys Sweet 16 is currently scheduled for March 3-7 with the girls tournament slated to take place March 10-14. District tournaments will begin Feb. 15 under the current plan.
As of now, the Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers are set to face off at home against Somerset on Nov. 24 in a boy-girl doubleheader to kick off the season.
