Two RC Residents Arrested in Wayne County on Drug Charges

Two Russell County residents are in custody in Wayne County after a major drug bust in Monticello early Sunday morning.    According to reports, officer Joey Hoover of the Monticello Police Department received information from Officer Ethan Pike of the Russell Springs Police Department early Sunday morning of possible drug activity underway in Monticello.

Upon further investigation, Hoover obtained a search warrant for a room at the Best Western/Lake Cumberland Inn on Highway 90 East in Monticello.   Upon execution of the search warrant, officers with the Monticello Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s office discovered more than one and a half pounds of crystal meth.   The crystal meth has a street value of approximately Fifty Thousand Dollars.

Arrested in the hotel room were 34-year-old Barney “BJ” Warner and 22-year-old Savannah Sullivan, both of Russell Springs.    Both Warner and Sullivan were charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, first degree, methamphetamine.    Also found in the room was approximately eight grams of cocaine, various drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.

Both Warner and Sullivan were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.   Authorities say the investigation continues and further charges are forthcoming.
