A home was damaged by fire last (Wednesday) evening. According to the Eli Fire Department, around 8:00 pm a call came from dispatch of a reported structure fire at 269 Highway 1383.
When firefighters arrived on scene flames were shown coming from the side of the structure. The structure was an old church that had been converted into a home and all occupants were accounted for. Unfortunately, a family pet did not survive the blaze.
Crews were on scene for around five hours and were assisted by Jamestown Fire Department and Russell County EMS.
