Slight Increase to Water and Wastewater Rates in Russell Springs

In a special called meeting this past Friday, the Russell Springs City Council unanimously passed a slight increase in water and wastewater rates, beginning on January 1st of next year. The increase of no more than two percent will now occur in January of each new year. The gradual increases will help cover the growing costs the city is faced with from its suppliers and maintenance on the current system, according to Russell Springs Public Works Director Terry Russell.

The city also unanimously passed an increased garbage rate, the first in 11 years. The increase will take the rate from $11 to $13.50.
