An initial arrest for warrants resulted in drug charges for a Russell Springs woman on Monday evening. While Russell Springs Police Chief Joe M. Irvin and Sgt. Bobby Pritchard were investigating suspicious activity around a local business, Sgt. Pritchard identified a female to have an active warrant of arrest. Upon search of personal belongings Sgt. Pritchard located suspected methamphetamine and other illegal items.
As a result, April D. Weston, 35, of Russell Springs was taken into custody and charged with the following: Possession Controlled Substance, 1st degree, Meth, Illegal Possession of a Legend Drug, Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess and Possession of Marijuana
Weston was transported to the Russell County Detention Center and upon further search, another amount of suspected methamphetamine was located. This resulted in an additional charge of Promoting Contraband, 1st Degree.
Chief Irvin and Sgt. Pritchard were assisted on scene by RCSO Deputies Dustin Bunch and Luke Hughes.
