The Columbia Police Department responded to 828 calls for service and public contacts during August.
According to Chief Evan Burton, Columbia Police Officers issued 50 citations, provided 16 motorist assists and conducted seven escorts.
Officers investigated 27 traffic crashes, including two involving injuries, and completed 15 incident reports. Eight criminal cases were opened during the month.
The department also welcomed two new officers. Corey Meyer was hired as the school resource officer at Adair County High School and as a patrol officer, while Colton Nunn joined the department as a patrol officer.
Additional activities included extra patrols for the Adair County Fair, local schools, Lindsey Wilson University, the Mark Twain Marching Band event and a visit by U.S. Senator Rand Paul.
